October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Day of Unity was first observed in October of 1981 on the first Monday of the month, it was started by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence to bring together battered women advocated across the nation. Safe Alliance want’s to bring awareness to the reality of domestic violence.
Safe Alliance will hold it’s 4th Annual “Steps for Change” Domestic Violence Awareness walk on October 22 2014.
“Participating in Steps for Change is a great way to take a public stand against domestic violence while also supporting our partners at Safe Alliance,” says Assistant District Attorney Jamie Adams, supervisor of the DA’s Domestic Violence Team and organizer of Steps for Change. “Because the awareness walk will be held in uptown Charlotte this year, we’ll be more visible than ever, giving us the opportunity to make a significant impact and get more people talking about a critical issue that affects families here in Mecklenburg County every day.”
The walk will be held in a new location this year at “The Square” in uptown Charlotte. The event will begin at the intersection of Trade and Tryon at 11AM and end at 1PM. Registration for Steps For Change is $10 and all proceeds benefit Safe Alliance’s Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter.
Rob Ughetta and his wife give money to Safe Alliance every year.
So glad this is getting such attention. What a great organization.
